Vera the Spaniel has Orthopaedic Surgery

This is Vera, a six-year-old Cocker Spaniel.
Vera's owners first noticed something was wrong when she developed a limp in her left front leg. Concerned, they brought her to Animal Trust Bolton, where a CT scan was performed to determine the cause of her discomfort. The results revealed a crack in her left elbow, diagnosed as a humeral intracondylar fissure (HIF) — a type of fracture that, if left untreated, could worsen over time and lead to serious complications.
Vera was referred to residency trained vet surgeon Dylan at Animal Trust Ellesmere Port’s referral service. The team at Ellesmere Port had specialist supplier Fusion Implants create a 3D guide, allowing them to precisely place a surgical screw into Vera’s bone. This procedure was crucial in stabilising her elbow and preventing further damage, giving Vera the best chance at a full recovery.
Thanks to the expert care she received, Vera has been making fantastic progress. She is now midway through her rehabilitation journey, gradually regaining her strength and mobility. With continued care and rest, she is expected to be back to her usual playful and energetic self in just a few weeks.
