Whether your pet needs an urgent treatment, emergency surgery or inpatient hospital care, our experienced emergency teams are on-site around the clock to provide immediate treatment and support when it matters most. Our Pet A&E service is open to everyone, with no prior registration required.

Always Open When Your Pet Needs Us
Our Pet A&E hospitals provide 24/7 emergency and out-of-hours veterinary care, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. We are open to all pets, not just Animal Trust patients, and no prior registration is required.
Our experienced veterinary teams help more than 20,000 pets every month, providing routine and urgent consultations, as well as emergency surgery and inpatient hospital care whenever needed.
Other than the £79 out-of-hours consultation fee, treatment and hospital care continue at our normal daytime prices.
If your pet requires advanced surgery or referral treatment, our experienced surgical teams can provide ongoing care once your pet has been stabilised and diagnosed.
Emergency and out-of-hours care is available at our Pet A&E centres, in Bolton, Barnsley, Ellesmere Port, Shrewsbury and Teesside.

Can I use Pet A&E if I am not registered with Animal Trust?
Yes. Our emergency and out-of-hours Pet A&E service is open to everyone, including pets that are not registered with Animal Trust. No prior registration is required.
Should I call before travelling to Pet A&E?
Yes. If possible, please call your nearest Pet A&E hospital before travelling so our emergency team can advise you and prepare for your arrival.
What emergencies do you treat?
Our emergency teams treat a wide range of urgent and life-threatening conditions including breathing difficulties, seizures, collapse, severe bleeding, poisoning, road traffic accidents, difficulty urinating, severe pain and other sudden illnesses or injuries.
Do you provide overnight hospital care?
Yes. Our Pet A&E hospitals provide inpatient and overnight hospital care for pets that require ongoing monitoring, treatment or recovery following emergency treatment or surgery.
What happens when I arrive at Pet A&E?
Your pet will first be assessed by our emergency team to identify any urgent or life-threatening problems. If immediate treatment is needed, we will stabilise your pet before discussing further tests, treatment options and ongoing care with you. If required, your pet may be admitted for inpatient hospital care.
What should I bring to my emergency appointment?
If possible, bring details of any medication your pet is taking, information about the problem or injury, and any recent test results or referral notes. If your pet may have eaten something toxic, please bring the packaging or details with you. If you have pet insurance, bring your policy information if available.
How much does an emergency consultation cost?
The out-of-hours consultation fee is £79. Other than this consultation fee, treatment and hospital care continue at our normal daytime prices.
Can your team perform emergency surgery?
Yes. Our experienced emergency teams can provide emergency procedures and ongoing surgical care where required.
Are your Pet A&E hospitals open 24 hours a day?
Yes. Our Pet A&E hospitals provide emergency and out-of-hours veterinary care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays.
