As an Area Practice Manager, you’ll play a critical leadership role in driving operational excellence, clinical quality, and team engagement across a growing network of veterinary practices. You’ll support and empower multidisciplinary teams, take full accountability for performance, and lead on key strategic initiatives—including the transformation of our Barnsley site into a 24/7 hospital. As part of the leadership team, you will also participate in the operational on-call rota to provide support outside of standard working hours. This includes occasional weekend and bank holiday cover, shared on a rotating basis with other members of the team. This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking leader.

Key Responsibilities

This is a key leadership role, focused on team culture, clinical excellence, and strategic growth.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead & Support Teams
Inspire and manage Vets, Nurses, Support Staff, and Practice Managers to build a positive, high-performing culture.

  • Drive Performance
Take full accountability for regional financials, including P&L, KPIs, and cost control.

  • Champion Client Experience
Ensure a seamless, outstanding journey for clients across all touchpoints.

  • Uphold Clinical Excellence
Work closely with clinical leads to maintain high standards and implement best practices.

  • Lead Regional Growth
Oversee the transformation of Barnsley into a 24/7 hospital and support the launch of new sites.

  • Optimise Staffing
Manage rotas and staffing levels to maintain productivity and service continuity.

  • Provide Out-of-Hours Support
Join the on-call rota, supporting OOH teams during weekends and bank holidays.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in management and leading multi-site teams.

  • Financial acumen, including experience with driving profitability.

  • Background in health care or similar sectors (veterinary experience is advantageous but not essential).

  • A passion for delivering high quality client care and improving client journeys.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and manage multiple locations.

  • Strong experience in line management with the ability to coach, develop, and support teams effectively.

  • A clean drivers license -  company mileage will be covered.

Benefits

Our Offer

You’ll receive a salary of up to £44,625 per annum, depending on your experience and qualifications.

6 weeks annual leave, plus a competitive benefits package.

An inclusive and supportive team atmosphere that encourages growth and development in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

Work-Life Balance

40 hours a week over 5 days, working Monday to Friday with the occasional shared on call weekend.

The satisfaction of being part of a team that makes a real difference in animal welfare.
Working within a community-focused organisation that values the contribution of every team member.
