    Roles Overview

    We are excited to announce an opportunity for an Apprentice Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Animal Trust in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about animals and eager to start a rewarding career in veterinary nursing. You'll begin as an Auxiliary Nurse gaining essential skills, and transition into an Apprentice Veterinary Nurse role with college training starting in 2025.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist Veterinary Team: Provide support to vets and nurses, assisting in clinical procedures and patient care.
    • Animal Handling: Learn to handle animals safely and calmly.
    • Husbandry: Develop skills in the husbandry of companion animals, ensuring their well-being.
    • Clinical Skills: Acquire vital clinical skills necessary for veterinary nursing.
    • Administrative Tasks: Perform reception and administration duties as part of the rotational rota.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Educational Requirements: Must have at least 5 Level 2 qualifications (equivalent to GCSE grades 9 to 4 or A* to C), including English, Maths, and a Science subject.
    • Experience: Candidates should have completed the L2 Diploma in Veterinary Care Support or have at least one year of hands-on experience in a veterinary practice.
    • Passion for Animals: Demonstrated experience working with animals.
    • Commitment: Strong work ethic and dedication to learning.

    Initial Salary: £12 per hour for the first 6 months.

    Apprenticeship Pay Scale:

    • Year 1: £6.40 per hour
    • Years 2 & 3: National Minimum Wage

    Benefits Package:
