    Roles Overview

    Join Animal Trust as an Apprentice Veterinary Nurse in Bolton and start your career in veterinary care. This entry-level, fixed-term role begins as an Animal Nursing Assistant, progressing to an Apprenticeship Veterinary Nurse upon successful probation, with college training commencing in 2025.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work as an Animal Nursing Assistant (37.5 hrs/week) to learn essential veterinary nursing skills.

    • Transition to an Apprentice Veterinary Nurse upon passing probation, working 37.5 hrs/week.

    • Handle animals safely and perform husbandry of companion animals.

    • Develop vital clinical skills and manage reception and administrative tasks.

    • Participate in a rotational rota for comprehensive exposure to veterinary nursing.

    Skills and Qualifications

    Applicants must have achieved at least 5 level 2 qualifications (equivalent to GCSE grades 9 to 4 or A* to C), including English, maths and a science subject  The college is unable to accept candidates onto the L3 diploma in Veterinary Nursing unless they have either completed the L2 diploma in Veterinary Care Support or have at least one year of hands-on experience working in a Veterinary practice  Passionate about animals - previous experience working with animals is essential   Committed and hard-working

    • Starting salary: £12 per hour for the first 6 months.
    • Progress to the Apprentice Pay Scale: Year 1 at £6.40 per hour, Years 2 & 3 at the National Minimum Wage.

    Work-Life Balance

    • 6 weeks of annual leave and a contributory pension scheme.
